2020-2030 rethink, eh? Sounds grand!
I was on the Sunstang Solar car (kind of, not really) and the Saturn Hybrid university design projects.
In 1992.
That's pretty damn cool, imo. The ReThink video brings up the point that solar/wind/battery storage combination has now reached the point where they are the cheapest form of energy available, so there are no barriers to a bigger rollout than the resistance by entrenched interests.
I was on the mini-Indy project for a year, spent a lot of time machining suspension parts in the student shops!
By 1992, I already had my P.Eng., young whippersnapper.
I only skimmed the video and I will re-watch when I have the time but I see it hits a key point that always drives me nuts from the neigh Sayers. Disruptions do not follow a straight line. People use the OPEC report on the future of oil and gas as though it's gospel and not filled with O&G rainbows and leprechauns.
My hope is that Biden's spending spree across the border will lead to a New Deal style green energy push around the world and we will see change much faster than anyone thought possible. There will be a lot of disruptions in the next 20 years.
