ok, so this is a good article. 

Considering that the upcoming Burnaby byelection has been in the national spotlight an enterprising candidate might seize on this as a prominent election issue. 
However, my guess is that as this issue is out of sight out of mind for most Canadians and involves a portion of the population that most people tend to consider as less desirable or worthy that it won't be an issue worth considering seriously for those in Ottawa.

363 straight days in hard solitary is harsh.  Should never happen.

Extremely harsh and I would guess has nothing but negative effects on the inmate.  A focus on rehabilitation would change a lot of these practices.
