When i open my Internet explorer it automaticlly pops up a microsoft office installer window and i have to click cancel 10 times to make it go away, and then IE opens to some stupid startpage wit thh address res://lpdqy.dll/index.html#96676
and it says Windows Homesearch and then has a list of links.
When i cahnge my startpage back to nsmb it automatically resets back to the stupid page. Then whenever i do a google search it opens another explorer window with the same installer window that i have to cancel 10 times and then it has it's own search results from search to find.com.
Ad-aware cant find it and search and destroy cant find it. I tried to find info about it on the net but to no avail.
Has onyone had this? How do i get rid of it?

K…..avg sucks ass…..better than norton but for some reason lately it has not been doing the greatest job. Get nod32, there is a free 30 sample on their site and it ROCKS the socks baby. Then as the big 0 said, get some mozilla action going…..and use those tweaks he was talkin about…noice. It's probably time to nuke-n-pave anyway, I like to do it once a year or so….keeps all the shit off the comp and I can play with how I have everything set up….think I am about due and I want to put linux on a partition…we'll see.

It sounds like you have trojan horse virus. I run avg 7.0 pro antivirus(kicks nortons ass) and it seems to find most of em. They is always some that can never be found, being aware of the fact that hundreds of new virus's are made each day. Try finding a program called CWShredder.exe . It detects trojans like the one you have, but it also brings up other things that you may not want to delete, so let someone knowledgable(not me) look at the resuls. Also try BHODemon to find trojan that screw with ie. Otherwise you may have to wipe your hard drive. or the simplest solution yet, get a mac…

If your homepage has changed and you cannot change it back, you have fallen victim to a browser hijack, usually found on pron or warez sites.

find "browser hijack blaster" and install and run it, it should find the nasty registry entries that keep changing your browser homepage everytime you open it.
