Best Camping in BC

Christina Lake is fun, boat friendly, one of the warmest lakes in BC..Kettle Valley Railway trails are nearby for some light pedally action.

Christina Lake is like a mini okanogan…bit busy on the lake etc. But yes nice warm water.

Tenting?…it can get pretty narrowed down and the possibilities endless. Like here in Kamloops for example. There may be 4-6 Provincial Parks within 30min of town…but there are hundreds of lake front sites besides.

Watchan Lake is pretty isolated, I was working up there for 6 weeks last summer and while there were always a few people staying at the campsite you mentioned, we'd go a week without seeing people up there sometimes. It might be a bit too rural for friends who havn't done much camping.

hefley lake is 12min from sunpeaks ,the private campground has showers/shitters and a warm lake we used to stay there and ride SP

Wells Gray is a great park and you can access the south east end of it near Clearwater. I camped there a few years ago and I didn't reserve. You can basically just stop at any provincial site and they are all pretty nice but the choices get pretty slim between Clearwater and Jasper so you will want to plan ahead on that section of the Yellowhead.

You can drop in on any provincial site that is far away from the Mainland! Good luck with anything near Vancouver.

Arrow Lakes are nice. I've spent some good times in Faulkier, they have a great little 9 hole golf course by the lake- I think it's $20 a round.

Maybe steer clear of the hotter parts of the province during the dead of summer, fire bans are likely to be in effect.

Miette Hotsprings near jasper wasnt the best campground but has easy access to hotsprings and amazing hiking. Driving up to it is a treat as well.

I would vote for Wells Gray as well though it's not exactly on the way from Calgary and it's a bit of a haul if you only have a weekend.

Manning Park and Skagit Valley are both close-ish to the LM and can suffer from lots of people but are still fabulous areas.
Kettle River outside of Rock Creek is fun. The river tends to be shallow and warm so great for goofing off in.
Christina Lake was mentioned. Good riding in the area.
Jasper is truly stunning and so is the summer traffic. The park and camping fees will make you throw up. Worthwhile at least once though.

Avoid long weekends if possible.

If you are car camping, I loved Scotch Creek when I was a kid…great beach, HUGE campground and even some trails to ride if you look around.

Allot of change up there lately…used to be a little more quaint…last time I was up I was amazed at how much the little area next to it had been built up.

Scotch Creek or Adam's Lake if you want something quieter.

Where's the best camping to be had between Vancouver and Jasper?

Got friends visiting this summer and will be driving from Calgary to Vancouver. I'm thinking of meeting them somewhere along the way for some camping action.

Wait, I just read this again. So are you going through Jasper or did you mean to say Banff?

If you're going for car access, I would recommend Fintry Provincial Park. It's 35 minutes north of Westbank on Lake Okanagan, super quiet and very scenic. It has some very cool stuff on site.
