So,

Where's the best camping to be had between Vancouver and Jasper?

Got friends visiting this summer and will be driving from Calgary to Vancouver. I'm thinking of meeting them somewhere along the way for some camping action.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnd go!

ummm, there are lots of amazing camping opportunities, it's BC.

what do you want to do?
sit around a fire in lawn chairs and drink beer next to your RV?
or hang out by a lake in a tent?
or go climb a mountain?

I want to sit on a log around a fire drinking beer next to a lake and my tent. Being able to bring my wakeboat would also be a plus.

I went with a bunch of friends to revelstoke last summer. We stayed at a campground at the far end of the lake (above the dam). That was a pretty sick spot, beautiful water, scenery etc. but a little too many people around for my liking. The campground has a boat launch but I didn't bring mine with me.

I would like the best place in BC to do all (or most) of the above.

Valid question.

My buddy will have his wife and newborn son along for the ride, so no mountains are going to fall to our iron wills.

We'll want a campground, for tents. On a lake.

As a benchmark for comparison, we camped at Birkenhead Lake last summer and really liked it. Seeing how we'll be with friends that aren't the most "camping ready", I'm not so sure we'd want to get a whole lot more "hardcore" than that. Mind you, we've got lots of time to prepare.

So, with all this in mind, suggestions?

Alice Lake

This trip to Kelowna was definately an undertaking - Liam and I had been planning this project for 24 hours. We worked really hard to pull out all the stops in this video. We had slo-mo goggle shots; time lapses; pedal flips; outrageous product shots; unloading and loading the bike; walking through the field with your hand in wheat. At the end of the day this trip was all about just getting out and riding with all my friends.

Nice campgrounds in Wells Gray Prov. Pk.

Camping in Jasper in the Summer can be a gongshow. Reserve now.

There are a shitload of camping options between Van. and Jasper. Hard to know where to begin.

Open to all suggestions at this point, with a mind to reserve now.

Let 'em rip?

I've got the internet. I'm just curious to hear of where folks here have had some first hand experience. Williams Lake?

Williams Lake is nowhere near the route from Cgy to Vancouver. Even Jasper requires a detour on the Icefields Pkwy (which is well worth doing if you haven't). If you want to meet them partway, I would seriously consider Wells Gray PP. Nice campgrounds, multiple lakes, good hiking etc.

Birkenhead Lake is nice.

I'd reccomend loading the boat and head out half-way down the lake to a small campsite along the hiking trail. Private, nice views, calm water.

Wells Gray looks pretty awesome. Hard to go wrong I guess…

Strange with the reservation dates though. No later than July 6?

I think the park service won't let you reserve more than a couple of months in advance.
