what are the top 2-3 beer places in van for selection of high end craft brews, unique atmosphere, etc?
best beer joints in Vangroovy
So far I've really liked steamworks for their beers and atmosphere (date night atmosphere though), if you're looking for a big selection, tap and barrel has like 300 taps or something. I also dig Goldie's, because pizza and beer is a winning combo and I'm simple enough to settle for one of four choices…
I haven't really been to much else other than a little bar here and there for a pint with lunch/dinner. I don't really have friends who I'd go out beer drinking with yet.
Try the golden coconut if you get a chance from steamworks.
Steamworks is always a good place to go also check out the folks at Parallel 49 Brewing .1950 Triumph St
Vancouver BC ..Definitely a place to check out and enjoy some great brews .

It's a magical place that will ruin you for mid shelf craft beers (I'm looking at you Parallel 49 and Green Leaf).
Delta is in Vancouver? Weird.
alibi room is arguably the best beer pub in the province.
but tasting room hopping is a really great way to spend a few hours as well; there's a cluster on main street (brassneck is good), as well as a gaggle in east van. here's a handy list (with map):

I've heard great things about alibi, but when I went there was a 2 hour wait…no thanks! Call ahead if you plan on going, save yourself some hassle.

well you can always settle for steamworks.
As mentioned: Alibi, St Augustines and Tap all have great selections. Portland Craft is really solid, Biercraft as well.
Red Truck did a nice job with their tasting room. They have a nice patio and also serve food.
