I don't think you can compare Sartori to Hildegard. They are trying to do totally different things.
Having said that, i LOVE Hilde.

Sartori was at first unimpressive to me, but after a few tries i kinda love the subtlety of it. Pretty rare in our hop-heavy days!

They aren't the same thing, but Hilde was hitting the spot a lot more.

That said, what RATCHET was saying is totally accurate last year and again this year, too. I had another Sartori last night and it's noticeably improved since a week ago. I have two more and will be waiting 1 and 2 more weeks respectively. I got a lot more citrus and body yesterday than I had on the first bottle, which was a little vegetal.

Got some stiff competition with Yellow Dog in the hood… man, they have been consistently awesome, especially that IPA. Greater Vancouver's best IPA's are all made in the 'burbs.

Is yellow dog available only in house as growler fills/tasting room? or do they have any bombers available in stores? the play dead was ridiculous. :fro:

WTF, Over?

Had a few Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen over the Thanksgiving weekend. They were excellent.

Ride, don't slide.

no bottles, they have a canner, but haven't set it up yet.

Moody is going to do "growler" can fills. They have 32oz cans, and a dixie canner beside their growler station, so they can fill whatever you want, and seal it in a can. Now that's a rad idea.

had a sample of storm's klingon stout: 10%, espresso, [HTML_REMOVED] heaps of pepper; probably the most bonkers beer i've tried. lots of heat; finishing a pint would be unlikely, but still strangely appealing (in small quantities). so many rad brainstorms (small batch experimentals) going on in there. james is a busy guy. the flanders red is as awesome as usual.

Had bottle 2 and 3 tonight. Got to say, no as good as good as I had remembered it. Not so stellar year? Pallet/ taste is changing? Or, so many great beers to choose from?

Paying the last bottle forward to a friend who missed out.

Was last year the first time you had it? I have found that with Sartori, it's never as good as the first time.
