A guy told me today that he and his company were going "balls to the wall" right now.

WTF does that even mean and how is it a good thing?

Pilot term. Ball of the throttle control is against front of cockpit thus ball to the wall. Now Wtf does cockpit mean?

I'm gonna guess it comes from the nautical world. The coxswain(or cockswain)would pilot a boat from the cockpit.

had to take a few years off riding because of successive injuries, so i was like fuck biking. then doc made crosscountry riding part of my PT, but i cant have one without the other. so here i am.

Nope. Hell for leather and hell bent for leather are both sayings.

The first must be an abbreviation of the second, since it is meaningless otherwise. They both mean "balls to the wall"!
