That was a pretty weak explanation and apology. The point is that you attribute the individual's behaviour to his race. Ever seen a white person do something stupid? Did you make a comment on white people? What if it was a black guy or a native guy doing that? I'm pretty stupefied that you don't realize that your statement was racist.
What are you apologizing for? For being racist? It's not clear in what you wrote.
