Now I am thirsty. Think I might have a Bushmills ten, yeah….I know…nothing fancy…..but quite nice, an everyday whiskey.

Oh..and never tried the Ardmore. Maybe I give it a shot.

took advantage of the duty free on my way home from abroad and picked up a 1L Ardbeg 10.  damn, this stuff makes me happy. the nose alone is glorious. that this is an "entry level" decent quality single malt has my discretionary fund quaking in fear. does the realm of scotch get proportionally better, or (i'm assuming / hope) do we move into the realm of diminishing returns? this could become an expensive hobby.

A colleague of mine who is really into collecting whisky said that in his opinion everything above 50 euros is not really worth the money, with a few exceptions unless one wants to start collecting limited editions which in turn might be sold at a later date for quite a bit more. 

Bought a bottle of Arran 10 this week. So far I like it, might become one of my favorites if in the mood for a smooth one.

Based on my small sample, I'd say Lagavulin is an exception. Worth every penny. 

Johnnie Walker Blue is pretty stellar as well, but I'm pretty happy with Jameson on a nightly basis.

Give Jameson Black Barrel a shot if you like the plain Jameson.

Johnnie W Blue is super smooth and all, but it lacks character.  There's just no defining character to it.

To be honest, I have never ever tasted Johnnie Walker. Up until last december I was a die-hard Single Malt guy only to find out while drinking it that Jameson BB is a blend. I chuckled.

I put Scotch in my coffee.

Many years ago, I went to a Jim Murray tasting and he emphasized that there are a lot of very good, affordable, blended Scotches for pretty much any taste.
