so good! returned the xmas gift of Macallan gold (very thoughtful dear) for this. second dram this time alone, much better to appreciate the smokey depths of this wonderful drink.

I'm a big fan of Laphroaig and have bought a couple of the Kilchomens recently and been well impressed. Highly recommended if you like Islay whiskey.

Laphroaig QC is my go-to Islay. It's gotten a bit more expensive in the last couple of years but still well worth it.

I agree…Ardbeg 10 is soo nice, with a drop of water it gets even more of a treat imho.

Another one I really like is Bruichladdich 2007 Rock side Farm. Incredible. Eithout a drop of water this one packs quite a punch but with water it gets realky tasty and mellowly complex. Not peaty though.

One that really took me by surprise ladt year was Talisker 10. Salty and rugged for stormy times.

i enjoy watching ralphy on occasion which really informs my whiskey understanding in a highly entertaining way. he has a lot to say about the business of scotch and how its success is negatively impacting the product. (if interested just go to youtube and type ralphy). he has lots to say about Ardbeg. in the early 80's it went out of business before coming back under new owners a decade or so later. now it's the trendiest and on the verge of going Macallan according to this guy.

QC was 20$ a bottle cheaper in Alberta , I always used to load up on Scotch in Banff

he's quite entertaining, if you have the patience and inclination for those sort of ruminations about whiskey and oh, all kinds of random stuff. it helps if you have your scotch in hand, and if you enjoy the Scottish accent a great deal, which i do. charming as all hell. in recent episodes he goes on about his winning a world speed record on 250cc motorbikes in Salt Lake. truly an eccentric guy!

I also really enjoy a Laphroig, but my favourite whiskey can also be the one that comes out of my friend's or father-in-law's liquor cabinet.
