Kevin Falcon resigns from his post as Finance Minister and announces he will not run for re-election which makes 7 MLA's who are not going to run but sez it his decision is purely personal … nothing to do with the sinking ship which is the libs

The ones that are jumping ship are likely doing it so they don't have to lie to their constituents for a second time around.

Too bad we're looking at an NDP government and being at the bottom of the prosperity pile in canada again for at least another term.

I wish people woud get behind their independent candidates and throw the party system out.

The Cons' will split the vote.

NDP will win a narrow majority gov.

BC will suffer economically, the government will grow larger. NDP are to socialist for me personally. I like a balance.

Besides making a bunch of land developers rich, what have the Liberal's done? (Full disclosure, I voted for them ever since I moved here).

He doesn't want to run for a dying party and lose his election, which would hurt his ego. Sounds personal to me.

Christy had the opportunity to move the BC Libs toward center, and actually be a liberal party (slightly left of center). Instead, she hired a bunch of former Harper staffers for her big image makeover to counter the perceived threat from the BC right wing nutjobs aka cons aka former BC reform whackos.

Wrong way, christy. You lose.

When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.

I met a deputy minister who after addressing a conference, was singing barbershop/relaxing/having a drink and he told us "I am having so much fun you guys have no idea what my usual day is like " a lot of work [HTML_REMOVED] travel

Consider they have all qualifyed for good pensions how long do you need to sit for isn't it 2 elections so retirement is covered, they all will have impressive rolodex/adress books I bet falcons in-box is full of job offers so why not go to private industry especaily if you KNOW you are going to lose … why spend the $ trying to get re-elected ?

its all NDP up here both federaly provincialy and even the town is being overtaken by lefties (mayor is 34 rides, bikes to work, rocks a santa cruz for the trail ) and besides I gave Doug Donaldson 100$

Yup. Consider me naive for thinking she was going to go this route. She probably would have lost either way, but her dignity would be intact.

I appreciated Falcon's candour, hope he comes back. The Liberals really screwed up by not making him Leader/Premier.

Yes because that works really well. Just look at the Australian parliament this term.

Isn't BC one of the economically prospering provinces (with Alberta) at the moment?

Cheers Ben

Random ramblings; BC needs an alternative to NDP [HTML_REMOVED] Liberals(in name only). The NDP couldn't run the economy to save their lives, while the Liberals cater to big business. Reading today how Clark is taking/has taken ICBC's surplus [HTML_REMOVED] diverting it to general revenue. If ICBC has a surplus, they should be giving us a break on rates.

Highest debt load in Canada, check.
Amongst the lowest average incomes in Canada, check.
A shallow, construction heavy economy, check.

BC has been suffering economically for over a decade.

I am no NDP fan, but to think the Liberals have done a good job running this show is certainly far from the truth.

I understand why its not possible in American politics to get a legitimate third party in. But I don't understand why its not possible to get a legitimate third party in BC.

Why is it that most people want fiscal conservatism with social liberalism, yet no party ever offers that?
