Android vs. iOS

The firm I work for, worldwide, supports iOS and BB10 in the infrastructure.

Android devices, of any flavour, are not allowed through the door.

Blackberry and iOS are closed, proprietary hardware and software. For better or for worse. Much easier to maintain, support, track and trace as a whole than an entire ecosystem of the many flavors of Android, so its hardly surprising.

I think Google Glass is way cooler. Having to look down at your wrist read a map/directions or check an email or browse a web page or watch a movie seems silly by comparison. At some point we will probably have these devices embedded into our nervous system anyway, just after we are born - just like vaccination or baptism (imagine getting an invite to a baby's "Implantism" and being declared their cyberparent - "No porn until you are 18, little Jimmy"). Anyone who refuses to do this for their kid will be treated like a criminal or like anti-vaxers are now.

I am with you on Google Glass. The beta was dorky and obvious so everyone thinks the idea is dead, but if you could have the functionality of AR in glasses that nobody will notice it will sell kajillion units.

Where I work Android is allowed. There is no difference when compared to iOS.

Same. IT enforces some specific security policies on my phone if I want to use it to access corp network, like PIN code rules and enabling remote wipe if it is lost/stolen. Similar to using my personal laptop to connect to corp network through our VPN. Took a bit of work on their part to set up the infrastructure, but now that its in place, not an issue for users.

Lazy IT group is too lazy to manage security != flaw in Android.

Most large organizations are moving to a BYOD (bring your own device) model to the enterprise.

Also, don't assume iOS is any less susceptible to malware as android. Both are highly complex systems that are virtually impossible to ensure integrity on.

Exact same. But we're a technology company so the IT group may be a little more up to date.

Not implying that is the case … the point is that you end up focusing all your efforts on the 2 devils you do know, and tell everyone else to get in line or leave their phone at home.

What our folks are unable to satisfy us, and our clients of, is that their data is secure with Android.

Your data isn't safe on iOS or BB.

Best troll ever.

A troll in Scandinavian mythology is a being who who thinks the best way to read/shoot video/talk into device is through a display/camera/microphone strapped to their wrist.

Okay. Well that's just a plain lie. Apple himself told me that this is impossible, and only happens to other devices. I bet the author of the article just spelled Android wrong.

Apple. It just works. TM

When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.
