who needs market share when you get most of the revenue in both markets anyway?

yes, there are more "apps", but also a lot of shit apps no one ever uses. quality apps still release on ios first, because that's the place where you can actually sell your app, android users spent 4x less than ios users in the app stores. also, you only need to make the app for a few devices, instead of millions of variants in the very fragmented android market.

so what ur really saying is Apple drones get ripped off 4X more ??

thx but ill stick to my Droid…

The reality is that Google's main source of revenue is advertising. Of course they are going to have a higher percentage of free-to-end-user, ad supported applications.

The figure that used to be trotted out in the early days of Android v. Apple was market share, since Android has now surpassed Apple in market share, the I-feel-a-need-to-demean-your-purchase-to-make-me-feel-better-about-myself crowd had to come up with something, so they've chosen app store revenue.

As I said earlier in the thread, there is very little difference between the capabilities of any of the premium handsets these days aside from aesthetics. Anyone who argues differently is either insecure, ignorant or is trying to sell you something.

So, to again address the OP's question? Android or iPhone? Go to a store and try both of them out, check out a friends. Pick the one that feels best in your hands, the one with the screen you like the most, the one your friends all have, or the one that fills X need in your life. Buy it. Take it home. Use the shit out of it. But please, for the love of god, resist the urge to go on the internet and tell others why their decision was wrong and your's was right, based on obscure metrics and your own personal needs and preferences, not their's. It's not a good look.

yes! of course, this applies to every consumer product. the fact that so many people feel the need to vehemently defend their trinket purchases and/or attack contrarians is indicative of how effective marketing is. we are what we buy. it's tedious.

I use like 4 apps. Chrome mobile for everything else.

I started to do that. Never used twitter or facebook, then started. The apps (especially facebook) aren't great and use a lot of resources. Just creating a bookmark and using the web interface has been just as good of an experience and is consumes less battery.

Is anyone here interested in smart watches? I see the iWatch is flying off the shelves but I just can't see usefulness unless you like to check Facebook during sex.

^totally buying one now.

apple is very adept at creating a need (or want) where one never previously existed. i won't be surprised if these go off. it's a step on the way to more integrated computing / connectivity. inevitably we're all gonna be cyborgs. really, we are on the most part already, just that the tech is externalized.

I think Google Glass is way cooler. Having to look down at your wrist read a map/directions or check an email or browse a web page or watch a movie seems silly by comparison. At some point we will probably have these devices embedded into our nervous system anyway, just after we are born - just like vaccination or baptism (imagine getting an invite to a baby's "Implantism" and being declared their cyberparent - "No porn until you are 18, little Jimmy"). Anyone who refuses to do this for their kid will be treated like a criminal or like anti-vaxers are now.

You think KenN will have a fit over his use of the word "baptism" ?
