Those are Maasai warriors dancing. They just stand there bouncing and it doesn't even look like they use anything but their calves. They are known for running incredible distances while hunting and for such a small group of people they rule marathon running.

Actually that is incorrect. The people that have ruled the distance events up to the marathon are the Kalnjin ethnic group. They are a part of the Nilotic people to which the several groups are included, including the Maasai. However they are a seperate group from the Maasai.

The hunting part you refer to, specifically the running is actually misleading. What you are referring to is a Persistence Hunt which does include some running but they walk and stop frequently during it.

This is very true. In reality, the idea of our skiers finishing in the top 3 in the downhill event was VERY optimistic given the company they were in.

They all put up pretty good results IMO.

People forget that the alpine skiers priorities are really about the World Cup races and the World Championships.

Even though I am Canadian I disagree with this statement as of late.

It's called Own The Podium.

Yeah, I just wanted to reply to Carbuncle's post with an equally stupid and irrelevant post, but everyone got their bikinis in a knot. There's just no sense of humour around here at 8 in the morning.

Educated?

Come on, that was like reading an essay I wrote in grade 8.

You know - Tom Brokaw (sp?) did this really excellent piece right at the start of NBC's coverage - really made us look good. Might change a lot of Yankees opinions…

Like our hockey program it's simply sheer numbers you end up competing against.

Americans live and breath sports, so they have sheer numbers everwhere. I'd say Australians are more active than Canadians. Perhaps we are more reserved, but it may also be greater apathy due to culture, population density, and climate.

Look at a country like Slovakia - a nation the size of Vancouver Island and with just a few million people. They already have a couple medals, just beat Russia in hockey this evening, and have made the 2010 World Cup. The whole nation is sports crazy.

Oh, and here is something we Canadians can be proud of. lulz

And the term is "Pack the Podium". Both gooch and gerewh0re have made Canadians proud with their emphatic packing.
