Gentlemen.

i live in the Comox Valley and would love to stay here. i'm struggling with my career and there are sometimes options coming up in the 2 above locations. to be honest, and no offense to the many of you that live in the LM, i have never wanted to live in the LM. i lived in Van proper about 20 years ago and could never afford to do so again, and wouldn't want to.

i know little about these 2 places and should probably go over for a first hand visit in the near future. for now i would love to hear your opinions of A and C. is there decent mtn biking near by? i'm pretty sure that there must be good lifestyle stuff there for the active outdoorsman. to be totally direct- are they shit holes like PoCo?

mtb in both places is really good and vedder in Chilliwack has wicked dirtbike trails too.
well worth a visit to decide for yourself.

Live there, work there would be OK. Live there, work in the big shitty, forget it!

(There are plenty who commute to Vancouver - I'd rather poke my eyes out)

I'd take Chilliwack over Abbotsford.

Abby has this smug, my Religion makes me more important than you, air about it. I lived there and moved to the Comox Valley and was very happy to get the hell out.

Chilliwack is a redneck - git er done - kind of place. It's also surrounded by mountains that are easy to access and not that well used (aside from some over used super popular places). Vedder mountain has great trails, and the trails in Abby, Mission etc. aren't that far away.

I have 21,474,850 rep points...

+1 for Chilliwack. Fishing the Vedder before work and dirt biking in the afternoon.

Your 0.02 opinion is worthless. Since Feb 2013, pennies have to be rounded down. Sorry.

I guess it depends where exactly you would be working. I live in abbotsford but I think chilliwack has more to offer as far as recreation opportunities.

interestingly, i also find the Valley to largely be a redneck place. in my experience this is the deal as soon as you leave any major center in the country.

I grew up in Abby. My buddy Jason and I built a few of the trails there that we love. Sumas has a special place in my heart. I've spent years hiking around that mountain digging and think that the valley has some of the best riding around. However, both of these towns are nothing like they were 12yrs ago. Both of these towns now have huge drug problems and gang violence. I moved to North Vancouver 10yrs ago and have never looked back. All of my childhood and high school friends have also left the valley. It's really sad. It use to be a great place to put down roots and raise a family. Have you considered Squamish?

Yeah gangland shootings have been front and centre for some time now out that way. Sad.

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

are these targeted gang activities associated with any ethnic groups as happens routinely in Surrey? i've only been to Abbotsford once and it seemed like a largely Indian community.
