Not quite enough for a CEO to afford from an hour's worth of work, but throw in a bathroom break and your pocket change might be able to pay the rest…

Anyway, anyone follow auto news? Pretty crazy how a mediocre auto maker is pumping out cars that are to compete with the super luxury Audi A6 and BMW 5/6 series!

I hope it works out for them because more competition is always better than less, but I can see them fighting tooth and nail for the next decade to get a foothold.

(And contrary to what the author thinks, 5-series aren't super luxury).

That reminds me of the VW Phaeton…. nobody else remember it? That's because nobody would pay $100,000 for a VW!

^So they rebadged it as an Audi. Plus most were probably going for the Toureag TDI V10

Why slag free swag?

I was looking at both when they came out. The Phaeton was the same price as an A8 and weighed a thousand pounds more. No fucking thanks.

And the Toureag V10 was again punching out of it's weight class. It didn't compare to the ML or X5.

Half-assed attempts.

Agreed, hope it works out for them.

But most people who can afford (or think they can afford) a car in that price range are looking for a status symbol and are probably too clueless or too egotistical to drive a car from such a lowly brand even if it is actually superior.

Would anyone on this board ride a $7,000 CCM or Canadian Tire bike, even if it was 'better'?

Yeah, I'd ride a "Mongoose" or an "Iron Horse" just like Henderson and Lopes did in the 90s!

70K seems excessive, I was thinking this was going to come in around the 50K mark. With that cash I'd pick the A6 Avant any day of the week

By and large auto makers don't make what most people really want. Personally I only want a few of the things that the fancy cars have. Good seats in leather or actually Naugahyde as it is more resistant to sweat and dog fur and mud, good power to get up hills, air conditioning and electric windows for climate control. Good all wheel drive to get me skiing and home again. No I don't want silly trim no all these electronic gizmos are useless. Sun roof? WTF does that do for me other than add cost and complexity. Push button start? How is that better than turning a key? Keyless entry? I am not that lame. Those cars you can simply walk up to and open the door because a signal from the key lets you do so? Then because all that mostly useless electric junk has run the battery dead after a five day ski trip left you semi stranded?

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Well that was a thorough review. Take my money!

HID lights? Is it still 2006? I'd assumed that decent cars would have LED headlights by now as HIDs die after turning them on more than 10 times…

Don't laugh - Honda/Acura and Datsun/Nissan/Infiniti were considered junk when they they first sold in North America (starting in 1970s).
