USA speed skater Shani Davis accuses coin of being racist. He skipped the opening ceremony because he lost the coin flip to a white woman. Took the time to hashtag Black History Month. This guy makes Cam Newton's post Super Bowl exit in 2016 look classy.

Funny, I am no longer following any Olympics at all, Summer or Winter. Got sick of all the politics.

Watched the men's Super G last night.  A terrible course, what a joke. I guess when that's all you have to work, a shit ski hill.

Also how about that crowd? Oh wait there wasn't one, am I the only one who has noticed all the empty seats at the events?  Probably the lamest Winter Olympics ever..... 51 million people in S. Korea and they can't fill the venues up? They should stick to video gaming.

The crowds for all the ski racing events have been pathetic so far. The stands were maybe 20% full for men's DH which is the premier event IMO, and women's GS/SL (also premier due to Shiffrin).

I agree the SG course was meh, too tight. The alpine venue in general sucks, prone to heavy wind (seriously, how is the slalom course so wind exposed?). Not very interesting DH either except for the one traverse jump. Was cool to see Svindal win and Shiffrin in GS. Sucks she is skipping the SG today because of the rescheduling, was hoping she would lock down multiple golds.

the olympics is a just a TV show, IME its way easier with way better views to watch it all from the comfort of your couch than in person

I was out on the womens super G course working the corner, 4 ski coachs and a FIS offical slide down the course to hang at the same corner and watch the women go by at 100kph

excpet they were all clustered around an I-phone in/at the race ... but watching it on TV instead

I see what you are saying but I guess it's the lack of vibe that is so obvious. When you bid for an Olympics and can't even fill the seats that's pretty lame. what's the point? To showcase the shitty venues? To show that Peyongchang is a half ass winter resort?
Would have been way better if the German or French bids got the games. At least people there would give a shit about the events.

The IOC is reportedly having trouble finding countries to make bids to host. There has been talk of having certain cities host on a rotating basis. Sounds like they will almost take anyone who puts a bid up.

Amazing television coverage of the skiing/snowboarding events. When the competitor reaches the end of the run, the camera zooms in on a very small section of the crowd so as not to show all the empty seats. And even that small section has empty seats.

Didn't I hear somewhere Vancouver/Calgary were looking at putting a bid together?
