Anyone that has done the 1010 and had the Volco store install know what the exact install and enviro fee's are? I didn't see it on the site anywhere.

I don't have the receipt handy but $89.99 per tire became $124 after tax and install, including valve stems.

I just finished paying for wheels, rubber, mount + balance, environmental fees and tax. If you go to 1010, they install for free. The environmental fee was $5/tire. They charge $49.99 + tax for the mount/balance.

Cheers,
DS

I assume that is the cost to mount on new rims? I am just looking to get ride of my old tires and have new ones put on my current rims…perhaps I'll just give em a call.

Thanks for the info.

Ah, yes. Apologies. This was for an entire set of 4 wheels w/ rubber - balanced and mounted - and installed. I had some new rubber (only) put on my SUV a year ago at a shop in N. Vancouver that offered great rates on the buns and didn't charge much at all to get 'em on the lip. Let me check who it was - I know I phoned around like crazy trying to get the best deal on the tires and the mount; they came in well below the rest.

Costco online has some ridiculously great pricing on steel wheels right now.

I've heard good feedback on 1010 but never tried them. When I bought winters, I used TireRack and shipped to Pt Roberts.

Just checking 1010, I see their prices have come down from 2 years ago and they seem pretty competitive with TR prices. Might just have to give them a go next time round.

just ordered 4x 18" cooper m+s for $1000 tax in w/ shipping to from 1010!

The real weather doesn't hit here until February. I'm thinking of taking mine off until then.

Be aware that some models of tires sold at Costco may not be available at a local tire dealer. We had a rear tire blow-out in Oregon so bought 2 new tires at the Costco which was right near our hotel. We figured we would get 2 more new ones for the front once we got back home. The local tire dealer told us they can't get that model of tire [HTML_REMOVED] that they're exclusive to Costco. [Edit…shouldn't this be 2013 snow tires thread?]

Thread title is fixed now.

Canadian Tire has at least one exclusive Goodyear tire too, there might be more brands and models.

Something else to think about; a local tire dealer will do any tire job you want, be it mounting old tires, snow tires, balancing, whatever. I believe Costco will only install new tires you have bought from them.

My wife's Accord needed new tires. It came with Michelin MXV4s. We looked at the new Defender, but Costco said they wouldn't install them because they are only a T rated tire and could only install tires with a spec that matched the original.

We ended up getting the Defenders from Honda.

^ does Costco think that a Honda Accord will be surpassing 190kph? I can understand the policy to a certain point - but other times the policy should be overlooked.
