froome abandons! tbh, not a fan of that guy anyway
Spent too much time staring at his stem instead of watching the road. I suspected he might not make it through today. Surprised that Contador struggled to keep up today.

Too bad Sky didn't have a strong GC contender who can also ride cobbles. Oh, if only they had someone like that at their disposal!
Nibali shows his class. The racers racer.

I'm not surprised Contador got rocked, Didn't Lance drop him in the cobbles when they were team mates? I Thought Cancellera would win today.
Wigo!!
Sagan sure picked a great photo of himself for publishing on the TdF site … awesome hair!

Contador gained time on Armstroing in 2010. Armstrong had a flat, but was already losing time before that happened.
Awesome effort by Nibali to hold onto yellow.
It was cool to see Meier and Tuft right up front in the early part of the stage.
How come Euro pros always get the great last names like "Boom."
I would kill to line up at a race with a last name like that.

I guess I was thinking when the wind split the field and Contador couldn't get across to the Lance driven echelon or maybe it was when Mayo got worked over and dropped by USPS in the cobbles…

Contador claims that his lower sprockets were plugged up with mud so he had to ride in to high a gear.
Orca did amazing today. Not one of their guys crashed.
A few of the GC guys were complaining about the inclusion of the cobbles. Buddy work on your bike handling skills. It certainly did not slow down the GC guys that finished near the front.
I understand the fear of a mechanical deciding the outcome on a stage like that, but I don't think, other than Vanmarcke getting a flat, any of the contenders for the stage or GC lost time due to an equipment failure.
I like that they mix up the stages so it isn't just about who is the best climber or ITT rider.
This should be way more interesting than the last two years of Sky dominated racing.
Hats off to Nibali for taking the race by the horns. He might not last to the end but at least he took his chance.

Opposite?
"With so much mud, my small sprockets [were blocked], and I could not keep up "
Also
Contador said he lost even more time later in the stage when his rear derailleur was so caked in mud that he couldnt change gears.

Looks like all the cool kids are riding the Vuelta instead this year?
