Regarding feeling exposed in lycra, while wearing shades and helmet, nobody even knows who I am. This is liberating from any thoughts of self consciousness. Fook 'em. And you should be able to carry everything you need in a mini seat bag and three jersey pockets.

"F**kin' Euros would rather die than carry a saddle bag." - The Boss.

Seriously though, how much stuff do you really need to carry? Yesterday I fit all I needed into 2/3 of my jersey pockets:

2 cheese buns
Banana
Glueless patch kit
Crank Brothers tire lever
CO2 inflator head
2 CO2 cartridges
Mini tool with chainbreaker
ID
Debit card
$20 bill
Keys
Phone

I usually carried in my jersey.
ID, debit card
phone
food
2 tubes (frame mounted pump)
mini tool w/cb
