Road frame with disc mounts?

Looks like I may pull the trigger on an steel Brodie Ronin frame/fork combo with Avid BB5R brakes and Shimano Deore Disc hubs.

Is it normal for shops to insist on new spokes when rebuilding a wheel?

Yes. The only way they will guarantee the build is to use new spokes. And a disc hub is likely to require different spoke lengths anyways.

That makes sense. I've only ever had one wheel rebuilt and that was years ago so I could not remember if new spokes where used or not…

Lots of people I know started buying this type of bike, maybe it's an age thing? In any case a good choice of bike for actually getting somewhere.
