I believe you can get single day licensing but you will be restricted to beginner class. If you are serious about getting into cross, get a license and go for it. Yes there are also race entry fees at each race. $20.00 per if I recall correctly last year.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Not sure how well this piece of advice will work with the revised call-up protocol, but the earlier you register, the nearer to the front of the startline you get placed. So … early registration is worth hours and hours of training. Being at the front of the pack off the start helps A LOT in 'cross.

usually Cycling BC will have a cross only license for around $100 and should be good for any UCI race. They come out with that mid-august. The BC series seems to be quite spread out again but you can fill the empty weekends by heading down to Washington. http://seattlecyclocross.com/

Just a FYI we are running some informal CX practices out of Speed Theory on Wednesdays. I won't be there this week but feel free to call and ask where its starting.

What time do these go down? I'd be interested in following some CX'ers around to get a handle on how things go down during the race season.

Also, how hardcore are these new tire rules? Will I be taken out back and beaten with old inner tubes for running 35c hooks?

It appears that only the cat 1 and 2 riders need worry during the season but I would guess that for the provincials you will need smaller tires.

Last couple seasons they have allowed disc brakes for example and mountain bikes too for the lower cats during the season but not for 1 and 2 and for no one at the provincials except and please correct me if that's wrong for the beginer cat at the provincials. That was because there is no provincial beginer champ crowned.

And I am starting to train on the cross bike on the North Shore a bit if you wanna tag along, I'd be happy to train with someone.

Theres a pretty good loop in Squamish that I thought would be perfect, probably take about an hour…would require a bit of on/off.. etc etc.
