Just starting to get more into it this spring. On the Shore the Fisherman's trail, to the Seymour dam and back is a good loop.
Wanna give Squamish to Granite falls and back a go.
Anyone care to share some good gravel routes?
Too bad the Access road from Capilano Lake to Furry Creek isn't open to the public. Looks do able on google earth

Squamish to Indian Arm is a great ride provided bridges aren't washed out. Lots of wildlife and scenery.
There is a bunch of really nice gravel riding around Lucille Lake. There are a bunch of small lakes and unique scenery.
Sea to Sky trail is nice as well but have only ridden sections.
Britannia would be a good one now as well as it's gated and there will be no vehicles present and it goes way up with multiple spurs.
Mamquam and Squamish roads are to busy with traffic/logging imo to enjoy but offer good scenery as well.
The access road connecting Furry Creek with where is shoots out would be an ideal gravel road ride. The gravel road on the watershed size is smooth and in good condition. I know there is some kind of security patrol because I ran into one of them at the fence who was smoking a joint.
One kind of bonus with the FSR roads around here is for the most part you start your day riding up and spend the end riding back down.

Water taxi from the Cove to end of the Arm, ride to the McDicks in Squish to fill the jersey pockets with cheeseburgers, south down the highway to the golf course, up and over the height of land, free-for-all** getting back to the Skyride, across the top of NV, and back home via LV and Twin Bridges.
I used to call it a good rip but modern specificity dictates it phrased more precisely.

No chain yanking, i dont have time or inclination to do that.
Anyhow, I haven't ridden that line in 24yrs... moved away to different pastures... but yes, of course, the Furry Creek rip was a staple for quite a number of us and it was a very savage ride with some of the more robust animals showing up for a 150km night time throw down. Some funny moments the odd night getting busted by the patrol, getting a ride to the front gate ie: escorted out, your Polaroid being taken for 'the book', the patrol shed supervisor lambasting the Polaroidees and the parting words of 'same time next week?' getting tossed back at the supervisor. Priceless.
Not sure how it all works now and how punitive or lenient they are in this age. The deal back then was vandalism on the logging equipment, not much else. Now I'm sure there's a lot more at stake given the way the world is.
Stoked that people still talk about this stuff. I really wished you could still ride a train to Pemby or Lillooet with your bike and savage your way back to NV. Savage people savage times... never gets old
Some guys I ride with that are a few years older than me have talked about riding Furry Creek - Capilano.
I'm sure there is security/cameras etc on that road being watershed and all that.

I think the allure, at least to me was that it was sorta verboten to do it and no real consequences if you lost the lottery that night and got driven out.
True event... Me: "Hey, I know you. I used to buy **** from you in the parking lot in high school. How'd you get this job?", Patrol guy: "Damn, you're right. Believe me, I want to let you ride out but you have to get into the truck and I'll drop you out at the gate"
The dark nasty rainy nights when you're freezing and would appreciate the heater in the truck? Haha, no such luck :lol:
So is there a fence at the Furry Creek end? I have never been up in that area.

Looks like a not bad out and back to a lake where the gate is.
There was and I'm sure there still is. No clue what it looks like now. Was often in a breached state, ie: holes cut in it big enough to pass bike and body through.
Was an old shack there, too. Funny sitting on the porch of the shack with 10 guys, all PR'd to the hilt and nobody had any flame... grumpy!

Kinda lost the MTB interest a couple of years ago, got into Road. Then last year, bought a cyclocross bike to do some of the gravel exploring. Loving it - gets me out into the forest again, but with the longer endurance type riding that I like from Road.
Fisherman's out to Resevoir is great. Lost lake trails in Whistler are a blast and you can circle for hours. Have ridden S2S from Whistler down to Brandywine and back a couple of times, and was planning to figure out how to take S2S down to Squamish. Delta watershed and then out to boundary bay dyke is ok (pretty flat, but somewhat interesting). Have heard that you can rip around burnaby lake, and have been up to SFU top on the old climbing trail. Good stuff!
I have found the gravel bike has really rekindled my love for cycling. I gave up road riding a while back but really missed it, just don't miss dealing with cars all ride. Finding all kinds of gravel routes on the shore which have been tons of fun. Nice to mix it up with the MTB.

Have heard that you can rip around burnaby lake, and have been up to SFU top on the old climbing trail. Good stuff!The trail around Burnaby Lake has no cycling signs. Below the lake is the Brunette River which is a great gravelled path.
Keep seeing a nice gravel path along the Coquitlam River while driving by but haven't tried.

Fishermans trail is covid closed. Mesh fencing both ends.
Downtown makes for a great ride now. 6 pm no traffic on Georgia or Gastown and all the bikes are running into each other in Stanley park. Stay out of Stanley Park road though, you'll likely catch something, probably a bike fender.

Fishermans was closed before the covid19 outbreak. There was only a closed sign for weeks , now a fence. Closed because there is a section where the bank is unstable and it keeps sliding.
Yes heard Stanley park is nuts busy with bikes.
