I have been reading comments that people should not ride highways (in response to this accident).

That section of road, is not what most people would consider a highway. It has little traffic, tight turns, and a steep grade. Pretty much forces drivers to drive slow, and pay attention (would be a hard place to text while driving).

On the other note, of riding on highways. I do it tons, yes I am scared, yes I try to pick the right hours. But simply being near any road in any type of vehicle (moped, bike riding, motorcycle, car, truck) is risky. Presently, rehabbing a knee, and road riding is what the doctor ordered. Doing it inside or on the valley trail, will break me.

I live in Squamish and there is never a weekend that there are not numerous accidents on the Sea to Sky. FYI - be scared anytime you drive near Brohm Lake - that spot produces an accident nearly every weekend.

Heard about the highway closure on Mountain FM yesterday. Sad to learn the cause behind it. RIP

i saw those guys yesterday just minutes before the accident .

i was riding my DR up and over the duffy and they were about 1 km east of the joffre high point .

three guys out for a great time ; looked like they'd ridden across the pass for a bit and had turned back . you don't often see roadies past the summit .

i have a huge amount of sympathy for the third rider in the group . . . what a scene to be confronted with .

first i heard about it was that afternoon when i met two other moto ADV guys who had been on a multi day tour of BC . they were on their way home and had gone over the duffy only to be turned back by the MVA and had found themselves at the Seton Portage pub .

I don't know what those people making comments are thinking. Report said the car crossed the median and hit them head on. What does that have to do with being a cyclist?
