Almost, though here they tend to like cover every inch of road with about an inch of salt. Wish they had the snowblowers as well, to move the crud off the road edge.

Salt rots everything. My truck got salted for a year and now it's dying.

not only does it rot your vehicle, FYI its toxic and poisonus to pets, it sticks in the pads on thier paws and irritates them so they chew at them, ingesting the salt and if they get enough of it, can make then very sick and possibly kill them so if you are out walking your little friends make sure when you get them home to give them a good cleaning with warm water and a clean rag, just to be on the safe side.

if you ate one pound of salt in one sitting you would be dead. Salt is something to be used in moderation. The stuff they use on the roads is treated with some other chemical as well as is the stuff they sell for consumer use on sidewalks and driveways. They do make non-toxic brands but its is harder to find and more expensive.

The salt they put on roads often contains anti caking agents, such as ferro and ferric cyanides (not toxic as some forms) at about 250 ug/g, and some contain urea.

I'm not aware of any non-toxic brands of salt. Basic household salt, NaCL is toxic and a tablespoon will kill a baby. In fact the stuff you find in every household that we sprinkle on our food is far more toxic than say something newsworthy like PCBs, which have very little demonstrated toxicity.

As with anything in life, the dose makes the poison.

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.
