…so I built this up for her, I even built the wheels. Bought everything in Beijing for about 400 Canadian dollars.
She rides it every day now to get around town and loves it!

hmmm things are getting serious…
JK nice ride!
Awwww you gave her a front brake.

Awwww you gave her a front brake.
Yeah aren't I generous. :P
She didn't want it but I told her she had to go a month without using it before she was allowed to take it off.
it has no gears.
why spread that disease to her?

its a set-up to cut her bars to a fixie size
those fixie guys are dangerous…
Nice work on all the colour matching. The red chain stands out. I need someone to explain to me the fixed gear thing. I have never tried to ride one - is it like riding a tricycle where the pedals move in relation to the wheel all the time or can you freewheel down a hill?

You can't freewheel, otherwise it would just be a singlespeed bike. That is why they don't always have brakes… you can use your legs to do the braking.
Bukkake, that looks like a nice ride! Bikes are one of the best gifts you can give.

Sad bar angle is sad :(
Woo nothing gets past you Mr. Critic! :P
That photo was taken 5 minutes after the first test ride. Since then, many adjustments have been made on the bar angle, saddle angle and height, stem stack height etc, brake lever angle and throw… she's very picky.
What I most like are the new style pedal straps. I've converted to those on my bike as well and they're much more comfortable than cages and allow for more shoe options.
Just telling it like it is! I got a pair of Reload straps for my track bike and must agree, they are awesome. I could never use old style toe clips because I tend to buy fat skate shoes, but the new velcro straps are adjustable to any shoe. It's also nice that they use BMX pedals so you get a much more solid platform.

Spoke cards FTW. Is that like when teens put sponsor logo stickers on their Civics and drive to the mall? ;)

My gf saw this at the shop yesterday and wouldn't stop talking about it.
Decent bikes for the price.
I'm still riding that masi frame I bought and it's seen A LOT of abuse on Chinese roads. They're tough frames.
Have you gone to visit Dennis in HK yet?
A new shop opened up locally and they have that Masi Chixed for $750. Total winter blowout price, but definitely eye catching. I think it's almost too flashy.
You've gotten a lot of mileage out of your Masi. I'm loyal to the KHS Flite 100, but both are very good cheap TIG steel frames, so not much difference.
I haven't been to HK yet. Still trying to finish my degree, and money's been tight. I do definitely need to get there before he leaves… going to Europe for 10 weeks in '08 left me feeling like I don't just want to go for 2 weeks…
