So its time for a new bike, and Im really short on cash. I found a new Norco Aline for sale. Needs new forks and some of the parts from my other bike will be going onto this one but the guy wants 900 for it.is it worth it if im taking parts off my bike?

also my old bike was a small norco buzz, this one is a med and people are saying the aline is a long bike. how do i tell if its too long for me? i rode it once and didnt think it felt to big minus the fact i couldnt really touch the ground (but im putting 24' wheels on it so ill be able to touch) but how do i know if its too long? Ive always had someone helping me out with this and now that hes gone im kinda stumped. HELP!

How tall are you? What year is the Aline? What size of bike are you on now?
What parts are you switching over?

Im 5'5 and am riding a small at the moment. I rode the Aline once and didnt think it felt like it was too long for me but i dont really know how to tell..the Aline is a 2006. the parts i would be taking from the buzz to the aline are my hayes 9 brakes (it has some sort of hayes at the moment but not as good) my wheels cuz they are 24', peddles, seat, grips (just cuz i like mine)

Too big for you. Find a different bike.

Ya a medium A line was a quite a large bike. I think you could look at models with similar travel and price point and be in a smaller bike that should ride nicer for a 5'5" rider.

just the aline -shore platform is pretty burly. I ride a 05 six as well as a 03 shore frame, so I know norcos..

Im thinking most "all mountain" riders can get away w a six, or even a fluid.

i agree. ninja, i'm only an inch taller than you, and i've ridden various brands of medium frames and they're all too big - unless you have monkey arms :P 24" wheels will only drop the bb/seatpost, they won't affect the length of the toptube.

I plaied around on the aline today and had a friend who is really into bikes come look at it..we are starting to think its not a medium, because it doesnt seem to be too long…anything shorter would be too short I think personally. Is there a way of telling if it is a med or small frame? The only issue seems to be the fact it is too tall for me

Measure it. The use the internet to find the correct measurements. The Aline is a tall bike in most sizes.
