People are fatter than they were 40 years ago when they ate more fat because they replaced fat with sugar. Fatty food is harder to digest and fills you up, leaving you satisfied and eating less. Sugar goes very quickly into your bloodstream and the insulin crash after ingesting it leaves you craving more food. Your body then faces an overabundance of sugar which means it no longer needs to burn fat (which is inefficient) and instead prefers to burn the sugars. The net result is that instead of being burned to produce energy, much of the fat you consume goes into storage around your chest, belly, visceral organs, butt and thighs.

Suburbs. Where everyone "has" to drive every where.

Basically any white powder like material will give you an instant state of euphoria but leave you craving more in a short period if time. Got it.

Processed carbohydrates are included in this phenomenon.

Terrible article. Filled with assumptions that are treated as proven facts. This tripe is nothing more than proof that correlation does equal causation.

it's not all that bad, but if you must it's at least as bad as the studies that started us down the road of a lower meat/higher carb diet

Dr Malhotra, an interventional cardiology specialist registrar at Croydon University Hospital, London, slammed the routine prescriptions of statins and claimed a diet high in saturated fats could be three times more effective at lowering cholesterol.

Writing on bmj.com, he said a preoccupation with levels of total cholesterol “has diverted our attention” from the worse risks of a condition known as atherogenic dyslipidaemia, which is an unfavourable ratio of blood fats.

He said saturated fat has been demonised since the 1970s when a landmark study found a link between coronary heart disease and total cholesterol, which correlated with the percentage of calories provided by saturated fat.

He said: “But correlation is not causation. Nevertheless, we were advised to cut fat intake to 30 per cent of total energy and a fall in saturated fat to 10 per cent.”

one of the big issues i see with these "studies" is they don't take into account the level and type of carbs people are eating as well. i think it's safe to say for for the typical NA diet, oone higher in red meat is often typically high in processed grains and sugars.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.
