Does walking with a 30lb child in a kid carrying backpack count?

Ride, don't slide.

you should try lunges holding a barbell overhead, then progress to dumbells.

Pizza gut definitely counts. Bonus points that you can't just put it down and leave it at the gym. No, you have lug that bad boy around for awhile. It's amazing how much better my knees are after losing (most) of my pizza gut.

I walk my dog every morning, that's pretty sweet. I don't carry anything though, that sounds like more effort than it's worth.

that's a huge factoring in not only improving knee health but also back health.

Yep, definitely a high volume answer to working the spinal erectors.

carrying buckets of dirt, digging, raking, polaskiing, hauling rocks…all good workouts you get for free when you build trail :)

Have an MRT coming up next tuesday, so no lunges for me at the moment. Guess I need surgery.

Depending on the intensity of the former, the volume of the latter is just a matter of, err, time.
