If you stop using a piece of equipment to strike up a conversion with your gym buddies then your turn is over.
Hey Gym Guy
I used to just ask if he/they were done with it
seemed like it would get better results than saying nothing then complaining on the internet
ask "how many sets do you have left?"
if they say more than one then you ask "do you mind if i work in?"
that'll speed things up.
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

most often when i use the term 'work in', usually i'm greeted with blank stares. so i walk away and try a different way to work out the area i'm targeting.
yesterday there was a guy in the gym with his roadie shoes on clip clopping around the machines, no kidding! how fracking weird is that. like, dude, seriously, that's taking the i'm a roadie thing too far.
Who can forget the guy cranking away on the spin bike for an hour. Then walks away leaving a puddle of sweat and the equipment needing a hose down before anyone can use it.
I hate housing equipment.
Lol gym rats.

That approach is not passive aggressive enough.
^^^ my buddy has that or close to it, same company and says it's great. i wanna do the same; combo of going to a gym with one rack and too many guys wanting it, and 3 kids under 3 and having serious difficulty getting to it in the first place

Yeah I'm going to be very busy for the next year and if I want to get my lifting in I'll need something at home as I doubt I'll find time to go to a gym. Plus I am so used to having free gym access the idea of spending $600 for a year's membership is a little insane to me. I'd rather invest in my own equipment.
Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.
I dream of the day I can set up a home gym. Enjoy it!
