Pain, rest, more pain and more rest there is no quick cure and if you don't take care they take even longer.

The raw, primitive, unrefined trails that see little to no maintenance are the kinds of trails that really build skill. What kind of skills do you learn riding a trail that was made by a machine, groomed to perfection and void of any rocks, roots or other obstacles that could send you careening over the handlebars?

pretty simple you just wait until they heal and whatever you do … don't get a cough/cold

I broke a rib earlier in a stupid wipeout, and I'm just feeling better since mid July. Took about eight weeks. I still rode, but I was WAY more cautious on stuff and avoided sketchy lines entirely. It felt like it was taking forever to heal, but the last three weeks it was doing better daily.

Rest, Advil, eat well, and wait…

Ride, don't slide.

Are you sure its cracked? Did you get it looked at by a doc and x-rayed? If not, it could be torn intercostal cartilage which is still painful but not as serious.

I cracked three ribs ten years ago. I was pretty much good to go after the first month but the second month is when the surprises happen. You sit up abruptly in bed, cough just the right way, move in a weird way and BAM you're reminded that you're still not 100%.

Good advice above. A couple of months sounds right. Today my ribs were okay to ride Expresso after 3 months, but the ribs were broken, not cracked. And there were 8 of them.

Doctors will only give guidelines. You have to be the judge.

Bone breaks and cracks can heal from 6-12weeks. The hard part about rib fractures are they are not easily immobilized because they move with diaphragm expansion, like breathing, coughing and forceful exhaling.
All mentioned above. Rest, age, health, proper nutrition and not being a smoker all contribute to speedy full recovery.
If, they are indeed fractured. Only xrays can confirm.

WTF, Over?

Why bother with the x-rays?

Treatment is the same whether they're broken or not, nothing.

It has all been said by others, but the 2 times i have cracked ribs sucked. Take it easy keep flexible, hit the stationary trainer and watch sad foreign films, you will definitely not laugh.
