on the wagon wheeler i currently have the maxxis beaver exo 2.25 on back. great all around tire. after about a half season it's getting worn, when it dies the spesh purgatory grid will go on. both have been good in the wet IMO, and are reasonably light. i don't baby them, nor am i enduro racing on them or launching into rock gardens. either minion for the front or back in exo max terra have been great and are also 'reasonably' light. if you are looking for outstanding rock grip or enduroing tires, you're looking at different models such as the minion 2.5's or heavy casing tires.
Maxxis DHR2 2.3 Max Terra work for me - anyone know where to get these for cheap (29er version)? Maybe not as light as you are looking for but for wet riding on the shore they definitely do the trick.
wet weather tires ?? I run the same design 12months a year , hell rode a Rock Razor on the back for a full year , yeah it gets slick , but what tire dosen,t when caked in muck

The hans Damp get a bit sketch when wet MM better but one I got is hard compound the sticky one heavy dh casing(?)

maxxis forecaster looks awesome. light, high volume, designed for wet. currently only available in 29er here in Canada. natch.

No pacestar rubber for wet. Maybe if you ride UBC type pea gravel expressways. I tried the HD but it has a weird self steering feel on hard surfaces. That was the 29 X 2.35 in trail star. On a 69° ha hard tail. Didn't like it. Wife likes it when it's wet because it does grip, but said the same thing about the steering feel.
Shorty ain't that bad. Today I was riding wet rock and gravel and some loam on Bontrager SE 2.4. They've been excellent all summer and even in the wet today they were fine.

2.4 DHR 3C Maxx Terras seem to be the ticket. Large volume tires that can be run at low PSI on wide rims.
