No. Specialized is all-knowing and beyond reproach now. You just need to try and catch up, like a middle-aged dentist on an S-Works road bike.

I like e-kickbikes! Teach 'em that humans can't move themselves around the world without a motor right from the start and spend a bunch of money while you are at it! ;-)

it's not easy to find a yacht with the utility of TWO helipads, so i do appreciate the inherent value.

but yeah; first impression re: $1k run bike: this is dumb. but in the context of properly ridiculous multi-million dollar trinkets, there's worse things to waste disposable $ on (though not THIS miserly bastard).

speaking of spendy specialized, how about the new levo? about $20k with tax:

It's emblematic of Western society's fascination with wealth/image and how we tie the value of people to wealth. There's enough wealth in this country and on the planet that kids shouldn't be growing up in poverty and not able to have a bike at all. In that light, the idea of a $1000 run bike seems perverse.

at least this bike has some utility; nicely built, it will (hopefully?) see use under multiple kids. I do like to see better built kids bikes that are enjoyed & handed down moreso than cheap, heavy, ill-performing short-lived shit. of course, this is a bit over the top, but hey.

there's certainly no shortage of *really* perverse crap to be had out there though; how about a $1400 tin can?

I just got an email from Fanatik that I could use their bike-builder on this.

For fun I built one up that cost $17,000 USD.

Good times.

That tin can is nuts.

The run bike is also absurd but imagine this: a surgeon is a devoted cyclist and just finds out they're having a baby. So all their surgeon homies in the office all chip in a hundo, and before you know it this person is getting a carbon hot walk for their baby.

I have the aluminum version of that hot walk and have no doubt in mind that after my two kids are finished with it, it will last for 10 more.

Hunh.

Folks in poor countries  have said the same kinds of thing to me when they found out that my Cross Check cost “about $500”
