Hey guys/gals
Went on a ride today and 30seconds into the descent the cage + spring ripped out of the clutch. Never seen this before but the plastic housing that the spring sits in must've had a hairline crack and let go. Also to note this derailleur has never had a strike and its been used all of 5 times. Is this a common issue with these shadow clutch derailleurs? Exploring my options. Pics to follow

Did I get a lemon? Did the stars align and the power of my legs is over 9000 and it just ripped out. I was riding with my mechanic and he said he's never seen anything like this. Also for what it's worth the clutch was in the ON position
I had the same thing happen to a XT 10 speed shadow + rear D. I'd say lemon. I have run many an XT derailleur and I'd say it was just a manufacturing defect.
Is your chain too short?
Negative was halfway down the cassette as well
Warranty it. XTR comes with a 3-year warranty IIRC.
