Same trouble for me with 2016 M8000 rear brake, I assumed it was overheating but who knows. Has only happened in the bike park.
XT m8000 Brake - Warranty Issue?
So, I love these XT brakes plenty. Stopping power of the gods, drag free, good modulation. Will definitely be keeping them, but…
I sent the rear brake in for warranty for the old bite point issue, Shimano was awesome and had a new brake in my mailbox 6 days after sending out old one. They even included finned metallic brake pads free.
The brand new brake however is having a slow lever return issue. I changed out the brake line before installing, but the bleed was trouble free and there is no discernible air in the line. The issue is the lever feels a wee soft at the bottom (though it does lock the wheel fine), and the lever has a slow return.
What have I done?? :'o Connections on hose somehow pinching hose restricting fluid flow maybe? Some sort of pagan hydraulic fluid dance I missed?
You guys are smrt, anyone know what's up? Thnx
Bleed it again with the caliper turned upside down and use a syringe at the caliper end. Knock on it with a plastic device, while bleeding, too.
Push lots of oil in and out.
There's a bubble stuck somewhere. Also put the tiniest drip of mineral oil on a q-tip and lube the piston which pushes at the lever end. The slow return can be a dry piston lever side. Behind the servo wave stuff, silver piston…
Worked for me, same issue.
The hunt for the magic silver piston begins. Funny enough, that "feels" like exactly the problem area.
Upside-down caliper bleed is a trick I'd not heard before, I like it.
