Can anyone help me, I don't know what else to do. I have no breakin power in my front xt hydros (4-piston). At the lever it feels great, but no stoppin power at all (break is fairly new).
First I thought it was the pads, checked them and they were glazed over, so I fixed that. Put them back, go for a ride same thing. So I was told to lightly scuff the rotor to give it some friction surface, tried that and still nothing.
Everything I read about the xts say they have amazing stopping power, and are great breaks, but so far I have had no luck.
Any suggestions, maybe I should just go back to my hayes!
Cheers

xt front hydros
weird.
Are they new? Did they have stopping power before? If so, what happened to change it?
What kind of brake line are you using? Ive found with the stock metal line the power is poor because the line is so flexy. The basic black line is much better.
Other then that, get them bleed, poor some water and dirt (at the same time) in the brake while spinning the wheel. It will increase your braking power.
bought them like a week old off a guy, my lbs had them for sale. the manager of my lbs is a good friend of mine and ensured me that they were perfect, he had just sold them to the guy.
the mechanic in the store told me just to stick with my hayes, but I was in the market for a new brake and the price was right. so now i don't want to had back to the mech to hear "I told you so" lol.
anyways wasn't sure if anyone had any ideas.
Just bleed them. There's probly some air in the lines.
I have XTs on 3 bikes [HTML_REMOVED] that's happened to one of them a couple times.
I'm quitting organized crime; from now on I'll stick to the regular kind.
those are nice brakes. i would bleed them and clean the rotors and pads.
:high: :.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.: :high:
have u tried putting in new pads and cleaning your rotor…
your pads might be the cause of all your aggro..
Yeah i am betting that the dude got some oil on the pads, just regular rubbing alcohol to clean the rotor?
myne is like that kinda, bleeding it helps but they dont compare to the new 2 piston deore i have on the front of my bike
