close to pulling the trigger on an Instinct, but it's 2x10 and not 1x11. seeing as this is a xc/light-duty bike I'm not sure the 2x vs 1x thing is such a big deal as it is for a rowdier bike.

I don't think that I could ever go back to 2x.

I rode a 2014 Instinct BC for four years, awesome bike. Going to build it back up and sell it soon, but it's a medium. Definitely going to want to convert to 1x in my opinion, but should be cheap to go 1x11 nowadays and I just ran the stock crank with no issues. Should be fine on a large, I'm 5'10" and rode a medium with a 40mm stem... not ideal by modern standards, but no real complaints.

Sunrace has a 10sp 11-42 cassette...

Was just perusing the Marin site, amazing examples of min-maxing.

Yeah I was on MEC’d website this morning and they have Sunrace 10spd 11-46 for like $90. Same price as the 11-42. That would be an easy upgrade.

I’ve got a couple things to tweak but I think I did well.

Very nice. How does it ride?

It rides great thanks. I quickly set pressures and the first thin I noticed it was a bit of wheelie machine, mostly due to the po having the seat way back in the rails. I pulled it forward for a better climbing position but of course then felt like I wanted just a touch more distance to the bar. So when I got home I had a look in the parts bin and found something 5mm longer which was perfect. I ended up going with a large and think that overall the XL would have stretched things out just a bit too much for what I was after. I botched a few corners on GSM mostly due to body positioning but overall I really like the way it rides and climbs. I  noticed a few things were easier, due to the larger wheels of course - it's almost like cheating. Maybe I should have just bought an ebike  - lol. I had a couple minor issue to sort out, one being the mount for the Fox dropper. I ended up taking apart an old Shimano 8spd shifter clamp and doing a bit of dremeling and filing and it works way better now.

If you're interested in a pretty mint 2017 Devinci Django in medium with most parts new from my Specialized Fuse, feel free to PM me for details

Sent you a PM. I’m intrigued.

I think you really scored. A bike from 2014 is not "old" or worthless despite what others may think. Lots of life and good times ahead.

Nice rig. I don't know about that seat angle but aside from that, looks like it will give you lots of great kms in the saddle.

Yeah I had it angled down a bit too much. I’ve always preferred to have my seats angled down slightly as it’s way more comfortable for the pedal up and it’s not like I’m ever seated on the way down
