On my commuter I am running a 44/32 in the front and an 11/32 rear. Will a short cage rear der work? I would never run big big so would there be enough travel to reach most of the other gear combos?
Thanks

I doubt it would work out well!
Besides, the added clearance on a road bike isn't completely necessary.

It's a cove stiffee. Circa 2005 I think. I'm just being cheap/impatient as there is a cheap short cage X7 on pinkbike.

If it's cheap, ride it until it breaks. As long as you aren't cross chaining much, I don't see there being much of an issue. Just don't ride big ring big cog.

I run short cage on 36/22 x 11-34 with no problems. I even big/big from time to time.

It will work. I have a 2004 Stiffee 32/22 - 11/34 and don't have any issues. Just make sure your chain is the right length.

do the math. There are tonnes of websites that help you out. The difference between the large small on the front and the difference between the rear large small i believe.
