I made a decision to shift to x9 shifter, as they have metallic triggers, as opposed to the plastic ones on x7 because I've them fail a few times.

Now having bust a rear derailleur I'm wondering whether i should ujust get and X7 too. Arethey much better. Is there a notable difference other than 30 bucks?

Finally, is there a worthy difference between the 06 and 05 rigs? 05 is definitely cheaper and I'm not a poseur type - last year's fashion works for me.

they do a good shifter/rear derailluer bundle on pricepoint, and I've a friend heading to Portland who can pick stuff up for me. I'll spare the LBS price comments. Any thoughts?

I just went through the same thing and decided to give the x9 a go and see how it performs compared to the x7 which I have been running since sram released the x7.

Thus far the x9 feels worth the extra coin and it has taken a better beating than the x7 while still shifting like it were new. thumbs up

I opted for the 05 as well since it was, well cheaper :) I also went through pricepoint for said shifting upgrade.

x-7 derailleur all the way. X-5 too weak at the lower arm. X-9 a bit stronger but not worth the cash. broke 4 earlier this year. X-7 has lasted a good 4 months.
for me, I am waiting to see the '07 stuff in action.
