That was my thinking. I have a MM front DHRII 29er combo to use.
Im still cheesed that Maxxis isn't or won't make relevant DH casing tires (HRII/DHRII) with a folding bead in either wheel size
I picked up a Conti Trail King 2.2 Chili for the drier months, but the casing looks wafer thin so I'll either go with the ProTection Apex casing or wait for the 29 Rock Razor or the Maxxis tire

I like my butcher purg combo but think I will try a slaughter on the back to replace my purgatory. Might go grid instead of control as sometimes I find the purgatory control a little squirmy really run tubeless. But l like to climb and fear the extra grams. I am mostly an xc guy and weigh in 175. Should I stick w control? Does the grid feel less squirmy if running 28ish psi tubeless?

Used to love spec tires but found them way to flimsy on the sidewalls to continue buying the control version. No one here seems to sell the grid either.
Plus schwalbe is just too cheap from germany…

That tire is confused. Its moderately okay in the rear, but nothing spectacular. It looks like the designer randomly placed knobs on there with thinking about braking and cornering.
So, no good on the front? How about for "lite" all mountain use? It's lite weight 680gms, I want to like it….lol

I set my dad up with a Conti TrailKing 29x2.2 BC for out back on his Fuel. It is the first tire I've noticed with both front and rear mounting directions on the sidewall?
