while I'd probably prefer the 3c's too, the 60's haven't been nearly as sketchy in the wet as I'd have thought, probably rocking 25-30psi most of the time

just did a bit of googling. can't find a single review or impression on the 3c exo's. i did find reports of people ordering and paying a premium for the 3c's and ending up with the 60's, some e-speculation that maxxis simply forgot to add the decal… are these tires even available yet?

I've really liked my 60a Exo, and would grab a 3C in an instant if I saw it… but same thing, they seem hard to find, even if you specifically order them?

more time on rampage SC, liking it more and more. trimmed off every other transition knob for slightly improved cornering traction on dirt/wet leaves.

tried a nevegal 2.1 sticky today - 650 grams (heavier than expected), but it's relatively large for its size. always thought this was a decent rear tire, and i'm impressed again with it. impressive climbing and braking traction over wet roots/rocks, much better than michelin, but rolls slower for sure. will do some knob trimming and try it up front next.

The 3C is 70/60/50a according to the website, so it shouldn't be too much sticker than the 60a anyways.

indeed, minion 2.5 single-ply 3C has 60 down the middle, 50 for side knobs, and 70 underneath to keep squirming to a minimum (though i never noticed this to be a problem with their 60 rubber). i'd be more interested if the middle strip was 50 too, especially for the front. less scary on greasy wood and rocks.

a 50-compound minion 2.35 with lightish exo casing weighing 600 grams would give me a golden xc boner. i could stop fucking around with all these tires.

same goes for their new "ikon" - 70 in the middle, 60 on the sides. fine for summer, but not what i want for winter.

I think alot of talk on the front tires….anyone have any suggestions for a rear tire?

I just ordered a Minion 2.35 for the rear with 40 duro. My thinking was an extra soft rubber compound for what is supposed to be a colder than average winter. I intend to run the tire tubeless, though it is non-UST (UST only available in 2.5 for this tire). My ride is a RM Altitude.

I'm not too worried about the durability of the tire, since I expect to chew it up this winter and spit it out next spring, however I never considered 'squirming' of the tire, as referred to by clarklewis above.

Does anyone think that squirming will be an issue with the 40 duro on a 2.35 Minion? Thanks in advance!

you may or may not notice it. its maxxis's answer to a problem that may or may not exist.
2.35 minion super-tacky is a good tire, but only comes in wire bead and weighs in at 1000 grams, a bit portly for my little bike.
