why does my keyboard dissapear?

Using an android / Samsung phone. For some reason the keyboard dissapears when / hit the delete/ backspace key.

Thoughts as to how to fit it?

My wife's Samsung converts the language during text messages. I have sent her many a message and it switches to Chinese partway thru the message. Frustrating as hell.

Just noticed mine starting to do this, 5/6 times. But not when my keyboard autocompletes the wrong word using Skype typing. Very annoying indeed!

Thank God its not just me. I was starting to feel special, but in a bad way.
