Yes, they seem to work OK… not order of magnitude better but definitely something to it.

OneUp has the new traction rings they call it a 30/34 i,d be interested in trying it

Are these a resurrection of the Shimano Biopace rings I had on my 91 Norco Kokanee?

Yes, I remember the day when I got a complete set of round ones (specialized 48, pace 36 and a steel 24) to replace my oval ones

I'm not making climbs w/a 30 so was thinking 28 but oval 30……hmmmm

I'm running a 32T Oval ring on my Chromag Rootdown.

It does seem to help with loose scrabbly climbs as it feels like it smooths out the power delivery to the rear wheel.

If you shelled out close to a hundred bucks for the thing. Your going to want to believe it works.

I don't get what size would be appropriate if I'm running a round 30t now with converted 11-42 cassette.

I don't want "smoother power delivery" on a gear I can't push up the Legacy Climb in Squamish.

My new cranks came with a new NW chainring, so I won't be changing for another year at least, but when the time comes, I'd consider getting one.

**I run a Black by Absolute Black 32t driving my 10 speed cassette with a OneUp 42t hack. It works great as my legs are much less tired/sore after big climbs and it is easier to remain on the gas throughout any ride. I had a 30t round ring prior and I more comfortable climbing with the Black and it's higher tooth count.

I began mountain biking 28 years ago when the original Biopace came out. The modern ovals are completely different. I do not notice any pulsing effect or really anything weird while pedaling it. In fact everyone who has hopped on my bike had to look at it to notice that it was oval as you feel nothing out of the ordinary. Several of my friends picked them up too and love them. I ride clipped in, but my friend who rides flats said that it helps him stay glued to the pedals even more than ever on climbs. **:devil:
