a scream might be a little big for all around riding back home. a chaparral can be set up 4-6" for all kinds of trail riding except big drops and hucks.

i've bought a 2003 big hit.didn't want to get a 2004 big hit what with the new rear and that as it's a first year product.2003 big hits have proved very durable imo:O)

I would get a Norco Shore or Team NS.

edit Just saw you purchased an 03 Big Hit. Nice choice, they are great bikes!

i think the big hit expert is the perfect shore style bike, it has really quick and responsive handling which is perfect for tight slow speed turns and log rides. the 24 in the back helps to, just put a evil super charger on it and its perfect.

that bike is so nice for slower speed stuff than any 8 inch travel bike i have ever riding. i personally have a orange patriot 7 and it is raw but it is a bit of a copper, with a super t the head angle is around 66 degrees wich is pretty slack.

i abosolutly love it though, even for jumping and stuff it is the abosolute stableist bike i have ever riding. and for slow stuff u just have to be able to man handle it, then it is fine.

Actually I know nothing about the Trasnition Dirtbag but it looks pretty nice. 5.2" to 6.2 inches of rear travel too.
