The frame is the heart of the bike followed by wheels and suspension components about equal to me. Wheels make a bigger difference on a hardtail than a fork overall especially a shorter travel fork. Then drivetrain and everything else is comfort and convenience more or less. Dropper posts are very good though, as long as they work.
Wheels are really important, but having tried many different forks on the same bikes, I think that fork is more important than the frame, even more so on a hardtail (of course, if the geometry is totally mental, then the frame becomes more of an issue).
