HT was just slightly over 20lbs, fs clocked in 25ish.

I love the amount of thought and precision required to get kids HT and FS down to low weights. It's the pinnacle of weight weenism IMO since for our kids losing 1/2-1 lb actually does make a functional and notable difference.  Add some min-maximism in there for an added challenge to keep things interesting

One week to spare. I should really trim the steerer, it's a bit Vlad the Impaler right now. Grips are going on last to stay clean.

Pardon my internet stalking, but as I recall you are in NZ? I'm curious about whether there is a backstory of a MEC bike/frame making if halfway across the world

Not one I know. I bought the frame second hand from someone with a north american accent.

5 Year old rolls on a Spawn Gremlin 14" and loves it (it's pink, that's usually the most important feature for her).  Probably time to get her on a 16" but I keep waffling on that or just keeping her on the 14" until she's big enough for a 20".

3 year old is on the Kinder Bike run bike, which is, most importantly to the boy, blue, and most importantly to me, has a hand brake.  He's suuuuper impatient to get on a pedal bike and is still too small for the Gremlin I have lined up for him so I snagged him a 12" Cleary Gecko that is waiting for us in Edmonton.

One child trips to school or rips on mellow trails the Norco Yukon with MacRide gets the call, and soon we'll have the Wildcat setup for MacRide rips too so we can hit some "serious mountain biking trails" as the boy likes to call 'em.

Two kid trips and the Big Rig gets the call: RadWagon 4 with brake, handlebar, stem, and seat upgrades, a Caboose, a rear bench seat, a Yepp for the boy boy, and custom fir box for the front bag and rack.  An ancient Roach messenger bag is undergoing some alterations so it can go on the back of the Caboose, giving the lock and kids helmets have places to live out of the way of the cargo bag out front.  Bit of a POS but it's working well for us now.

Thanks man.

One downside of kids is that since they grow so fast you have to buy a lot of bikes.

Upside is that you get to buy a lot of bikes.

These bikes should grow with our kids for years (I hope)

2011 Giant Reign XO for my 12yo son. nothing really original on it. This is his 3rd season on it

my wife's old 2005 Queen Kikapu frame for my 10yo daughter. 24" wheels, 165mm cranks, short stem, etc. First season on it

2012 Cove GSpot for my 10yo son. Set up as mullet, 24" in the back, 165mm cranks. Frame is "new" (been hanging in the store for 10 years), rest is old. First season on it

we can find pretty good 26" deals around, and I have enough lying around to make them work

I’m loving the “old and obsolete” kit being used in cool new ways for these kids bikes - those all look rad Johnny!

I posted my 9yo daughter's in the hardtail thread earlier this year when we added her kid spec 70mm dropper post and colour matched stem, and I had considered it done for her.

Well I found a 4 pot Deore caliper from my spares and swapped it onto her front. When I asked her what she thought was different, she was able to say something with the brakes. After the first ride she noticed that there was more power and the power was easier to control!

The frame is an xs Salsa Moto Rapido, scandium front end bonded to a carbon rear end with flattened stays to help with compliance. 24" wheels currently with a 110mm Rock Shox U-turn air Revelation. Plan is to dial up the travel to slacken the front as she starts getting on steeper stuff, then eventually go mullet with a 26" front wheel. She has 152mm cranks, XT 10sp shifter controlling an XTR rear der with short Zee cage on a 11-40t cassette.

Wheels moved over to the FS bike for her second park season, same 10sp Shimano drivetrain and brakes as the rest of the household's rides. This is a women's small Specialized Safire running in 24" wheels. Specialized actually had this same frame size (presumably overstock?) and 24" wheel setup marketed as the Camber Grom for a couple of years.

We spent a couple of days at Sun Peaks, despite the smoke and an extra couple hours drive vs. Whistler, I think the trail conditions and more chill vibe is way more conducive to beginners and young ins. We can't wait to come back next year!

School and daycare pickups, nice stroll down memory lane for me. Though there's no way I'd soon forget the hills I had to ride with these 2 onboard

Wow, two extra child seats on the bicycle! I've never seen anything like that before. Usually, I only come across one at the back. Those hills must have been a challenge. I bought my son a Guardian 20-Inch bike, and now we ride together often. Recently, we even passed by my old school, and it brought back so many memories at once. Honestly, I used to hate all the assignments that stressed me out. Now my nephew was telling me he has a study hack, a resource to find definition essay topics, and I'm even jealous of him. I could have used something like that in school too because sometimes I had to spend hours in the library. Although, I'd have preferred spending that time on a bike ride.

Cool video I took following my 11 y/o last week. We moved to Kamloops almost 3 years ago, as soon as we got here we bought the kids skis and proper riding gear. Previously living in Langley, I would take him riding to various spots like Fromme, Thornhill or the South Surrey bike park. The problem was we had to sit in traffic to get to any of these spots, fight for parking etc so it was hard to get into a routine with biking and skiing was out of the question. He loved bikes but we went too infrequently for it to really stick, had to try and remember how to ride every time we went out. Anyway now we live literally up the road from the Bike Ranch so all he does is rip laps thanks to the shuttle service there. Enjoy.

Bike is a 2013 Giant Trance which he blew the fork up on after 2 rides so now he's over overforked with my old 160 Zeb lol.

Recently picked up a Norco Fluid 24 FS for my 8 year old off Pinkbike buy-sell. well loved but in great shape with new rear shock and freshly serviced fork, he's been ripping up the neighbourhood riding every curb and jump.

The Bike Ranch is such a cool spot, a buddy lives nearby with his three kids and appreciates it for sure.

I really like that there are these official spots for your kids, it sure makes it easier to get into it than the conditions I had.

This generation is gunna rip!

(Already does I guess, I’ve watched Seaminuk and Goldstone go from the first generation of little ripper groms who live on the trail to just completely dismantling the grown men they compete against)

It's mind blowing to see the massive city funded jumps being hit by little kids doing backflips lol. The progression is on another level here in the dj space at least.
