It doesn't matter what your intentions. Warranties, whether in the bike world or otherwise, are in case of manufacturer defect.

the frame is heat treated, I'm no welding expert but i don't believe that it can be welded after it's been heat treated.
i guess I'm not gonna have a bike for 2009 and just gonna spend my summer working for 9$ and hour wrenching on other peoples bikes so that i can hopefully get one.

i'd buy that .243 racing frame on the last page .. you dont really need disc brakes for racing DH, it's all marketing hype. Same as rear suspension, you got legs. Huck to flat less, ride more.

All the "tough love" posts aside there is a reason so many of us rocked the hardtail while going to school. When you cannot afford a new derailer you can always rock the single speed.

That said, I understand where you are coming from. This is a bloody expensive sport and you are balancing priorities.

I have a freeride hardtail frame (rides best with an ~6" fork) hanging in my storage locker I'm not using. It's yours if you can pick it up in North Van. The majority of your parts will bolt right on (it even has a headset).

Otherwise… cowboy up until you are done school and have a job.

hahhaah, wtf, i traded that bike to a bikeshop owner(AKA bike shop), for a bmx.
