the other great thing about Giant is that if you ever need a warranty on something, they are super quick and have an insanely fast turn around. Pretty hard to seriously consider any other brands imo, Giant nails service and value and performance.
That's good value. Yes, $4,700 is a lot of money for a bicycle, but at least you are getting the new Fox 34 damper/kashima, new Fox air can kashima shock and full XT on a carbon frame. Compare that with the entry level 2016 Devinci Troy build for $4,500 that has an RS Sektor fork, Debonair RT shock, crap wheels, 2x Deore/X5 drive train and M396 brakes… Unbelievable. Glad to see Giant is still offering good value as Devinci has fallen off the planet this year for $CAD builds.
Yah - it was the move up to the 34 from the 32 fork that ticked the last box for me. Plus I like the idea that I am purchasing it for less than our American cousins.

Where did you find that info?
I think theres some misinformation there, NSMB may have mixed up the spec between the R and RS, RR models when they released their article which might be causing some confusion.

Yep, it was the NSMB article. It came to my attention because I was looking at the 2015 Troy XP Carbons on sale @ Steed for $3k (2015 MSRP $3800CAD) and comparing to the 2016 Troy RS carbon (2016 MSRP $4499CAD) and was really disappointed with the poor spec combined with increased price even though I understand the FX issue. Any idea where I can find the real 2016 spec/prices?
According to articles 2016 frames are complete redesigns plus a 25% currency drop is going to add to the price. The big value COULD be if the alloy frames are still made in Quebec.
For the pricing error in the article: RR=correct. SX build is listed under the S. RS specs are under SX price. S specs are under RS price.
Difference between the models you are comparing is the new frame and 2016 goes 1x11 as the carbon isn't front der compatible.
I'm curious how much more the 2016 frame-only carbon will be? The 2015 is listed at 2500 CDN

Prospective US bike purchasers are going to figure out what's going on eventually and come up and clean you guys out of last years stuff.

Geeze no doubt eh.
They could totally cleanup with smoking deals on top of the wicket Forex (for them).
Almost be like us going to a developing country.

Ahh that makes a lot more sense, I was annoyed because I thought they were dropping the spec and raising the price. So 2016 Carbon RS is basically the same spec as 2015 Carbon XP except you get 1x SRAM GX which is pretty cool. The new frame is the reason I was really interested in the 2016. I was hoping to wait until next summer and try to pick one up on sale for closer to $3k but that ain't happening. Can't blame Devinci.

FFS. Why can't they just ship from Europe? In any case North American (US) distribution won't give us good pricing in Canada unless the dollar improves dramatically.
^Fabian going to be their NA rep?

Hmmmm…. very plausible.
He's got bigger things in mind I think. Considering his engineering background I can see him being the main R[HTML_REMOVED]D guy with a stake in the company.

Their top spec 2016 DH bike looks like it's $3,200USD/$4,290CAD (FX from Euros) and includes a Rock Shox Boxxer Team (charger damper), CCDB coil shock, X01DH 7 speed drive train, SRAM Guide RS brakes, E13 LG1, Maxxis tires, Renthal cockpit and decent wheels. That is the same price as Giant Glory 2 (in $USD at least) with crap components (Domain, Kage, DB5 brakes, X5 drivetrain, crap wheels)… and Giant is considered to have good value for price in the DH world. 37lbs claimed weight.
Yeah it might a be a simpler suspension design, but that is crazy value.
