Waterproof Shorts?

Just got a pair of these Gorel Alp X 3.0. Work well and the fit is just right: you can layer shorts underneath if needed, not too tight and a good inseam length.

Waterproof/breathable FULL PANTS? Tapered to prevent chaintear, Enough room in the knees to cover sleek knee pads (RF Indy), Breathable, Durable. Impossible? Or just mind-numbingly expensive?

I use these for commuting on wet days. I run very hot and find they do get pretty clammy inside, but still very comfortable. Not cheap either at around $200. NSMB did a review on them and had generally positive things to say: http://nsmb.com/specialized-deflect-therminal-winter-gear-reviewed/

No Issue at all, I'm not getting damp or muddy through those vents

Generally I've been going through ~ a pair of water proof shorts a year for a few years now (Endura and Gore) just from regular wear and tear (usually wear through at the crotch from the saddle). Not a complaint, definitely just regular usage, but with money being a bit tight this year I have been looking for a cheaper alternative that is still a light weight waterproof breathable.

Anyways… I purchased a set of MEC Sectuer pants on clearout (http://www.mec.ca/product/5021-703/mec-secteur-pants-womens/?Ntk=productsearch_en_q32008[HTML_REMOVED]h=10[HTML_REMOVED]q=pants%2Bcycling). Yes, it's technically a women's pant (although there is nothing flattering or fitted about the cut so I'm not sure what makes it so), but fit is good enough to run over a set of bibs and they have belt loops.

Then Sherry at Sateen (http://sateenalterations.com/) cut them to my preferred length and turned the legs into a pair of stuff sacks for less than $15.

Anyways, if you're trying to do waterproof for cheap I like them enough that I'm going to get another pair made. I prefer a 3/4 so it covers my knees but they can be any length if you're looking for a regular over-the-knee length or some waterproof booty shorts. They are cut wide enough for knee pads.

I've always been super happy with the quality and fit of my Gore shorts. I've used the waterproof Alp-X and the Alp-X 3/4 for ~4-5 years. I just wish they had belt loops.

Bought this jacket on black friday super sale on CRC.
It is super waterproof and a good buy for the money.
Just don't go running in these, its like wearing a garbage bag. Overheated big time last night even with the vents open. Need the bike speed to keep the temp comfortable.

This is a hot move if you can sew (which I can).

Based on my experience with my ladies MEC bikey baggies "ladies" = a short crotch area, tiny pockets and the zipper is "backwards".
